Joint Venture Seekers

A review of Liz Tomey's Joint Venture Seeker...

I'm sure you don't have to be convinced of the power of Joint Ventures. I mean, you see the huge numbers all the time, right?

You know - "A million dollars in 8 minutes!!"

Well, thankfully there's a whole lot more to JVs than that.

There's actually room for "the little guy"... especially those that want to move up the ranks.

Liz Tomey is one heck of an example.

Her very first JV (for the first product she ever created) brought in $37,000 in just two weeks... ok, so it's not a million bucks, but it's not something to shake a stick at, either.

She describes that launch as "life changing," as it would be for just about anyone. Both she and her husband were able to stay at home with their 5 kids... and it literally set the foundation for their whole business.

Quite a story, yes?

That's why I wanted to check out Liz's product Joint Venture Seeker, to see if it sheds any light on JVs.

joint venture seekerWhat I found was something rare... a series of video tutorials (10 of them) that take you through the entire process of planning, getting, and carrying out JVs... step by step.

Liz speaks from experience, and it shows. She's worked with most of the top people in the industry - and even got 8 of them to share their top secrets in a series of hard-hitting interviews.

Liz even includes the transcripts free of charge... along with an incredible batch of bonuses that I actually loved reading.

I think a lot of people try to get that "thud factor" by throwing together a ton of information on a topic... without really considering how people are going to use it.

That's not the case here.

Liz has put together detailed workbooks that go along with the course, so you never feel like you're lost. I actually picked up two steps that I had left out of my JV process that will dramatically improve my results.

So there you have it - a video JV course from a real master, that anyone can use.

Last I heard Liz was offering a big discount for the first couple of weeks... so you better take a look now.

Here's the link:

Joint Venture Seeker.

To your success,

Marguerite Bonneville

PS- I especially like Liz's advice for people who have no list... she did her first JV before she had a list, so she knows what she's talking about! Check it out here:

Are Your Headlines The Kiss of Death?

I've just been re-reading Sean D'Souza's excellent articles on the psychology behind writing killer headlines and sales copy.

In case you don't know, Sean is the copywriting wizard from New Zealand who gets rave reviews from marketing masters like Jay Conrad Levinson and David Garfinkel. Sean is so perceptive when it comes to ferreting out the real reasons why people respond to an ad and buy a product - or run like rabbits after reading a couple of words - that many people think he's a trained psychologist. No he's not - he's simply a brilliant observer of human nature whose insights you don't want to miss.

Due to his hectic schedule, Sean's site hasn't been updated in a while, but luckily you can still get access to a wealth of free articles. Just go to Psychotactics.com.

Gary Halbert Dies

I had some sad news from Brett McFall earlier this week. Gary Halbert, a truly original copywriting legend, died in his sleep on Easter Sunday.

gary halbertGary was famous for his blunt, humorous and no-holds-barred approach to creating advertising copy. If you're not familiar with his work, you can get a sense of his unique style at his web site, The Gary Halbert Newsletter. Gary's sons, Kevin and Bond Halbert, have chosen to keep the web site live so people can have access to all of Gary's archives.

Australian copywriter Brett McFall wrote an excellent newsletter back in 2002 after returning from a two-day Gary Halbert workshop in the US. It will give you a taste of Gary's approach to writing great ad copy. You can read it at BrettMcFall.com.

Finally, if you'd like to read the moving tributes that have come pouring in over the past week (and if you'd like to add your own), go to John Carlton's blog at JohnCarlton.com.

Michel Fortin is offering free access to four hours of recorded interviews with Gary and John Carlton on his tribute page at MichelFortin.com

Gary Halbert - what an amazing man. And what an incredible contribution he made to the lives of so many marketers.

Gary, rest in peace.

Web Copywriting - Ughh!!

Does the idea of writing a web page bring back all that gut-wrenching anxiety you felt when faced with an English assignment at school?

Take a deep breath and relax. Writing for the Internet is nothing like writing for school!

Forget about all those obscure rules of grammar you never quite got. What people are looking for online is information – in a form that’s easy to read and understand, written in a friendly and helpful tone. You can start a sentence with ‘and’. You can write sentences that consist of one or two words. As long as it all makes sense to the reader and you get your point across.

Which is not to say you can forget about spelling and punctuation. Your purpose is to make the experience a pleasant one for your reader, so you don’t want them distracted by bad spelling, or having to read a sentence a couple of times to make sense of it. Bad punctuation - like throwing in too many commas or not using enough periods – can trip up your reader and cause them to click away in frustration.

As for the tone of your writing, imagine you’re writing to a friend or pen pal. Write informally and genuinely. And please stay away from too much hype. We’ve all had more than our fair share of pushy sales people and we cringe when we’re confronted by a hard sell spiel.

Some suggestions for easy web page writing:

1. Write your web pages as clearly and concisely as possible. Use the spellchecker in your word processing program. Re-read your pages 3-7 days later and you’ll see all sorts of places where you could have expressed yourself better. Make your corrections and let it go.

Don’t do this more than twice. You could rewrite your pages forever and you’d probably always find room for improvement. This is a waste of time, unless you’re adding some new sales technique you’ve just learned.

2. Ask a friend who’s a good writer to do a quick edit for you. Preferably they should be familiar with writing for the Internet. Beware of literary types who want to polish your copy according to publishing standards. This may not be helpful and could lead you off track.

3. For a pain-free way of writing articles and web pages, take a look at Melanie Mendelson's excellent 30 Minute Article Writing System. This ebook and audio will help you write a web page or article in 30 minutes. It’s a form of speed writing and it works!

4. If you realize writing isn’t your forte or you simply don’t want to do it, hire a freelancer at www.elance.com or www.rentacoder.com to write your web copy for you.

It may be a case of trial and error until you find the person who can write ‘in your voice’, but when you do, don’t let them go! This person may be the key to your success, so show your appreciation readily. Pay them a bonus when they do a great job or get a difficult assignment in on time. Most of the top Internet marketers have several key people who write their copy. It’s a major factor in their success and they reward these freelancers accordingly.

Next time we'll talk about writing an ebook the easy way.

Until then,
